![]() Tim started eight of the MetroStars’ nine games in the 1999 Major League Soccer season. On August 18, 1998, Howard made an impressive debut with the MetroStars, making five saves in a win over Colorado. ![]() Tim’s initial club affiliation was with the North Jersey Imperials, where he appeared in six games before being assigned to the MetroStars by Coach Tim Mulqueen. Tim was a member of the youth national team at the age of 15 and made his international debut against Honduras in the under 17 squad. His high school career began at the Montclair Kimberly Academy, which he attended until his junior year when he transferred to North Brunswick Township High School. Tim was acknowledged as being better in soccer, specifically as a goalkeeper, after demonstrating his versatility as a competent soccer player, midfielder, and basketball player. He was diagnosed with Tourette syndrome while he was in sixth grade, and before he was a teenager, he was seen at a soccer camp by the coach of the US men’s national under-17 soccer team, who took Tim under his wing. Tim has been interested in basketball and soccer since he was a child. His father, who was raised in New Jersey, remained active in his and his brother’s lives and encouraged them to participate in sports. Timothy Matthew Howard was born on March 6, 1979, to a Hungarian father and an African American mother who divorced when he was three years old. Tim has made a name for himself as an exceptional soccer player, a humanitarian, and a well-known personality in his country despite his proclivity for mishaps. In most of the matches he has played, he has a reputation for continuing without hesitation till the conclusion despite suffering an injury.
